Better Alternatives For Meal Prep
For the same money as a set of plastic containers, you can switch to materials that simply don’t leach. Glass is the gold standard: inert, microwave-safe, freezer-safe, and oven-safe (check the lid — plastic lids should not touch the food during heating). Stainless steel bento boxes and tiffins are ideal for packed lunches and won’t react with any food. Food-grade silicone works well for lids and wraps, but check temperature limits. Plant fiber or paper containers are an option for short-term storage — choose ones explicitly labeled “PFAS-free,” because grease-resistant coatings often contain forever chemicals.
